It was an Impossible Love
2005 - Black and white, sound, New York, USA, 4:02 min.
It was an Impossible Love tells the story of an impossible love between a Chinese man (the artist himself) and a Japanese virtual woman. Both are dead. The man is passing through reincarnation, but the woman is still in a state of impermanence. Both occupy the same space but in different times, making it impossible for them to meet. The man, dressed in Chinese clothes within a very anonymous set, complete with Chinese newspapers is almost completely stationary. At times he breaks from his stasis to make repetitive and obsessive gestures of subtle irony and pathos. The soundtrack consists of a poem in Mandarin Chinese on the impossibility of this love.
