Trilogias is composed of three works by Maurizio Pellegrin and six videos divided into groups.
The first group is by Matt Marello and acted by Maurizio Pellegrin. It belongs to the series “Who wants to die for Art?” and specifically V2, Duel, Owl Creek.
The second group is by Swati Khurana and also acted by Maurizio Pellegrin.
The title is Maya, and the single videos are related to the Wedding, the Childhood, the Renunciation.
The entire exhibition is related to the number three, the number of the spirit,
the number that represents the triangle and the elevation through purity and knowledge. The three trilogies give the number nine, multiple of three.
The titles of Pellegrin’s works are the Spirit, the Hearth, the Soul.
These works are in the order displayed on the wall, on the floor, on the ceiling.
The Spirit consists in a rectangular shape painted on the wall with an acid green color. On the surface are hung objects related to Japan: kimonos, obi (Japanese belts), and other objects. The big green wall is a sort of space without time, a lagoon of deposited energies and memories where the severe black kimono of the master leads the rules of the composition. The black thread spheres contain tales and emotions tied together in the movement of rolling the wool thread. It is a work about musicality and rhythm suggested by the presence of a series of black wooden handles. The spirit of the life, of the man and the universe, finds manifestation across the small details, and the objects as materials disappear to become the perennial presence of the spirit.
The Hearth is related to China. It is composed by a XIX century Chinese bronze and bamboo covered fire extinguisher and sea sponges. This work represents energy and movement. It is the action that departs from the human being and expands all around. It is physical and psychological, it is the principle of life with the blood circulation, but it is also the principle of love and nature. Fire (Chinese object) and water (sea sponges) are the two symbolic elements of this perpetual energy,
where nothing ends but everything is in constant transformation.
The Soul is related to Italy. It is a wooden laundry hanger from the beginning of the last century with six arms above various white objects. In this case the white color is the purity, the beauty and the innocence. Objects, banal only in appearance, contain this entity of lightness and detachment, opening the space and revealing the soul of things. The work is suspended from the ceiling waiting for this revelation, and in the circular space the stillness is always about to be broken.
